THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY: Quality Engineer
Develop, submit and obtain approval of PPAPs, support APQP requirements and support new product development.
Develop a plan to assist plant in machine and new product production which includes the application of gauges and SPC requirements; ensure products comply with blueprint specifications.
Coordinate
engineering
change and process improvement requests.
Work with customers on quality issues and new product development and interface with other internal departments to resolve quality issues. Respond with 8-D or other customer specified correction action format.
Make recommendation to develop and implement new processes and/or improve processes.
TS16949 administrative responsibility.
Review new product prior to production start-up in coordination with manufacturing engineer and production personnel. Analyze process sheet and identify area of potential problem and process failures.
Develop a control plan based on process and failure analysis in coordination with manufacturing engineering and plant QA manager. Establish a documentation trail for new products and identify specific measurements and checks that need to be made. Detail specific critical measurements on blueprints which serve as a guide for quality action plans.
Prepare preliminary inspection instructions, flow charts, etc. to assist plant personnel in sample production and analysis.
Set-up, direct and coordinate work of quality assurance technicians and inspectors.
Develop a quality plan with material suppliers and purchasing to assure that quality standards and product specifications are maintained. Conduct supplier audits as needed. Develop a report on supplier certified status.
Communicate and provide training to plant and manufacturing engineering personnel concerning machine runoff schedules and product characteristics. May certify machine operator for SPC procedures.
Plan and coordinate quality planning meetings.
Monitor ongoing product quality.

BACKGROUND PROFILE: Quality Engineer

3 years experience in quality assurance and machining, preferably in automotive field
Working knowledge of blueprint reading and GDT
Working knowledge of PPAP requirements
Must be able to function in a team environment.
Good verbal and communication skills.
Good problem solving skills.
Effective interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills working with customers and employees.
Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Detailed oriented
Certified TS Internal Auditor
Covisint or other customer portal knowledge.
IMDS system knowledge.
Minitab statistical system knowledgeEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
